In 1997, The Washburn Youth Baseball Association (WYBA) was formed to help kids in the Washburn Community to learn the game of Baseball on a advanced level in a positive setting. As a public 501(c)3 Corporation, WYBA offered an opportunity for kids to play in an instructional program and compete in well organized metro-wide leagues and tournaments.
Over the past decade, the need for advanced sports programs has grown. Kids from all over South Minneapolis joined WYBA and had positive experiences partcipating in clinics, metro-wide league and state-wide tournaments.
Because WYBA had been serving kids from the Southwest, South, and Roosevelt communities, the WYBA board decided in 2003 to rename the organization the Minneapolis Youth Baseball Association and continue its mission of offering quality sports programs.
